Winter just came out of nowhere!
It is truly amazing that in Lambton county we have experienced winter literally overnight! I know that many people, myself included, really weren't prepared for such an event in mid November. Snowblowers are being purchased, winter boots for the kids, and all the shovels in department/hardware stores seem to be disappearing much quicker than the snow.
I suppose the spiritual application in all of this, if there is one to be found is that sometimes we just have to make the best, smiling included, with events and situations that we particularly don't sometimes enjoy. The snow, the cold is certainly a needed component of nature and the cycles our world has to go through; and sometimes we need those type of situations in our lives - to help us appreciate the people, family and the important things in life. Jesus went to the cross, and it must have caused great uncertainty and unrest with His family, friends and disciples. I can only imagine the havic and the chaos. But then he rose again - and the event that seemed overwhelmingly difficult was now just a distant memory. So too, this snow will melt away and it will come again next year (more this year too I'm sure). It really is a parallel to the events in our lives - trials will always be there to challenge us, but how we approach it and how we deal with it will certainly tell the tale in the end.
